New to the Pilates Reformer?
Time to start Pilates?
Any time is a good time to start Pilates. It begins with three private introductory sessions. Please call All Wellness (802.863.9900) to schedule your first intro session. Depending on your comfort level, you’ll be able to join group classes after just three sessions.
How Does It Work?
Pilates is a non-impact exercise method that emphasizes fluid movement and resistance to stretch and strengthen the core muscle groups of the abdominals and lower back.
Introductory Pilates sessions focus on the basics. Your instructor will assess your strengths and sessions will be designed according to your own flexibility and strength. You’ll learn Pilates’ unique breathing patterns and become familiar with the fluid movements that constitute this 70-year-old exercise system.
Here are just a few benefits the Pilates method has to offer:
Mind Body Connection?
Like some aspects of yoga and meditation, Pilates synchronizes movement and breath to help the practitioner realize better body awareness, balance and alignment. Pilates combines strength and stretching routines that energize the entire body from the inside out.
Why Pilates?
You’ll gain the foundation for a life-long practice of great overall body conditioning. You’ll develop long, strong muscles, a flat stomach and a strong back, and better posture. Poise, balance, grace, strength…
The Pilates exercises most people think of are those that use the Pilates Reformer. A machine that uses pulleys and cable to lengthen, strengthen and tone. But there are also Pilates mat classes. These classes are just what they sound like: performed on a mat on the floor. You can start mat classes at any time (no introduction is necessary). The great thing about the Pilates mat exercises is that they can be performed anywhere!
