Joan Shaplin, Physical Therapist, Lymphedema Specialist
All Wellness is pleased to announce the addition of a new physical therapist to our growing staff, Joan Shaplin. Joan has 33 years of experience as a Physical Therapist, with 25 of those years at FAHC in acute care and orthopedics, and later, in the outpatient depa

Joan’s areas of interest and specializations include foot/ankle orthotic management, woman’s health and urinary incontinence, chronic pain, post surgical shoulder repair, joint replacement recovery, and arthritis deconditioning. She is also a Lymphedema specialist and is certified in The Vodder Technique, as well as with the Lymphedema Association of North America.
Joan has over 11 years of experience in the treatment of women with breast cancer. Her patients include those that have had swelling following mastectomies, lumpectomies, breast reconstruction, radiation treatment, lymph node removal, surgeries, and infections or trauma to the limbs. She also has experience with non-healing wounds due to chronic edema, hypertrophic scarring, scar tissue adhesion, capsular contracture and techniques to speed healing following cosmetic surgery.
Joan recently returned to the Burlington community after developing a Physical Therapy program at the Nashville Breast Center in Nashville, Tennessee and in the US Virgin Islands.
